Airport Information and Conference Service
The Beijing Capital
International Airport (PEK)is the main airport of Beijing, which is about 20 km northeast of Beijing city centre. Most domestic and all major international airline flights arrive and depart at the Capital Airport. The airport is linked to central Beijing by Airport Express buses and taxi is available 24 hours everyday.
To take a taxi, you can go to the taxi station just outside the terminal and wait for the taxi guide to arrange a taxi for you. You are advised not to take any car or taxi other than from the taxi station because these cars and taxi are not reliable. The distance from the airport to the conference venue - Beijing International Convention Center (BICC) and the conference hotels is about 35 km and the taxi fare is around 80 Chinese Yuan (RMB).
To make it easy for you to communicate with the taxi driver, we have prepared an English-Chinese card of simple conversation with taxi drivers at http://sigmod07.riit.tsinghua.edu.cn/chinese-travel-card.shtml. Please print the card from this page and take it with you when coming to Beijing.
Student Volunteers Airport Service
For SIGMOD/PODS conference participants: If you arrive in Beijing Capital International Airport (PEK) on June 10 (Sunday) and June 11 (Monday) and need help to go to the conference hotel, look for people wearing "SIGMOD/PODS 2007" T-shirts at the exit of international arrival. These are student volunteers who will help you for your transportation needs.
